The answer was a resounding yes!
Not deterred by mud and a grey day, there was a fantastic turn out of families, friends and dogs for the Group Walk on Sunday led by Alice and Chris. We walked for an hour and a quarter and covered about two and a half miles which was pretty impressive since some of the “little” walkers were very young indeed! We believe that the youngest was Lorraine’s grand daughter, Ellie, who at three and a half made a stunning effort and walked three quarters of the way unaided.
At the end of the walk there was a warm welcome back at the village hall with bacon butties and hot coffee. Thank you Lori and Vanessa for missing the walk so this was ready for us on our return.
Another first for the DVHA was the plant and art sale. Debbie Cooper had organized a superb array of plants for sale which was particularly impressive as the wet and cold weather has delayed the growth of so much.
Lori and her fellow Art Club members who use the hall for their meetings had organized an exhibition and sale of art with 20% of all proceeds donated to the DVHA.
All in all the day was a resounding success much enjoyed by everyone and it was so nice to see an event so well attended by such a wide age range.
Whilst the final number crunching has yet to be done it looks like the total contribution to DVHA funds from the sale of butties, plants and art will be around £250.
A huge thank you to all who made this a brilliant day – Vanessa and Lori for the bacon butties; Debbie Cooper for organizing such a marvelous array of plants and marshalling Daniel, Luke, Tim and Debbie Lee as helpers on the day; Lori and the Art Club for the art exhibition.
Last but most definitely not least, thank you Alice and Chris for coming up with the suggestion of a Group Walk, planning the route (special thanks from the larger four legged friends for making sure there were no stiles so that they could come along too!) and then making sure that whether we were up front or trailing far behind we all made it back in almost exactly the hour and a quarter so the butties didn’t get cold!
